Travel Books and photos
Don Pitcher is an Alaska-based photographer and travel writer with a dozen books in print. He is a member of Wedding and Portrait Professionals International (WPPI), and his photos have appeared in many magazines, books, websites, advertisements, and other publications.
Photographic Books
Don has photographed three books for Compass American Guides (Fodors): Alaska's Inside Passage, Alaska, and Wyoming.
Travel Guidebooks
Don Pitcher has two new travel books that will be available in May of 2013: the 6th edition of Moon Yellowstone & Grand Teton, and the first edition of Anchorage, Denali & the Kenai Peninsula. The 4th edition of Moon San Juan Islands was released in 2012.
Don also served as editor for Best Places Alaska and contributes to DK Eyewitness Travel Alaska and DK Eyewitness Travel USA, along with Triporati.com and other websites.
Technical Information
Don Pitcher works with Canon professional cameras and lenses, and shoots entirely in digital RAW using a Canon 5d Mark II, with a backup Canon 60D His primary computer is a Mac Pro, but he also uses an iMac and Macbook Air for personal work. Images are processed using Photoshop CS5, with Adobe Lightroom 4 for photo management. Other software favorites include Nik Viveza, Nik ColorEfex Pro, Apple Keynote, A Better Finder Rename 7, Adobe Dreamweaver, and NeatImage. His archival prints are made on an Epson 3800.
