Books:
The second edition of Don Pitcher's Moon San Juan Islands came out in 2005. Don recently completed major updates of Moon Wyoming and Moon Yellowstone and Grand Teton. New editions of both books will be released in May 2006. He is currently starting to update Moon Alaska, with the 8th edition scheduled for release in spring of 2007.
Photography:
The fifth edition of Compass Guides: Alaska (which Don photographed) came out in 2005. A new book photographed by Don Pitcher, Compass Guides: Alaska's Inside Passage, became available in April, 2006. Don's prints are sold in 20 Alaskan and Washington state galleries.
Family notes:
Don and his wife Karen Shemet have two children, Aziza (age seven) and Rio (age four). Both have received international recognition as the finest and cutest kids on the planet.
For equipment techies:
Don Pitcher works with Canon professional cameras and lenses (from 14 mm to 500 mm), and shoots entirely in digital using a Canon ID Mark II (with a backup Canon 10D). Images are processed on a dual 1.8 G5 Mac using Photoshop CS2, with iView MediaPro 3 for image organization and Spyder2Pro/PrintFix for color calibration. His near-archival prints are made on a new Epson 2400.
